Hosted sites and the site wizard
Creating a new website with the wizard, what a site type installs, and managing the sites you own.
/sites lists the sites your org owns. New site (/wizard) creates one.
The wizard
- Site type — a recipe of features: a basic site, a store, a course site, a directory, a community, a full business… The recipe decides which sections are installed (you can add more later).
- Name and subdomain — the site's name and its address as a subdomain of the platform. The subdomain is live the moment the site is created.
- Theme — the starting look. Change it any time in the theme editor.
- Domain — connect a domain you own now, or later. See Domains and DNS.
- Contact information — the details shown in the site's footer, legal pages and emails.
Creation takes a minute: the site's database, files, DNS and mail are set up and the recipe's pages, URLs and settings are installed. You are then taken to the new site's manager.
What you get
A working site: home, about, contact, terms, privacy, login and register pages; a help centre; the sections the recipe chose; and a manager account — you.
Working on a site
Every Websites Manager page has a site picker at the top; choose the site and the page shows that site's pages, content, URLs and so on. The choice is remembered.
Site settings
/settings — the site's name, emails, logo, options and every installed feature's settings. See Settings and API keys.
